JOHN HINGERTY - Traditional Painter

John Hingerty was born in Sydney, N.S.W in 1930. John has painted professionally since 1972, after a career in management and design in the fashion footwear industry. He has no formal art training, but studied with W. Chandler, L. Trapell and O. Kuster.

He has held ten one man exhibitions and numerous joint exhibitions in Sydney galleries. John's paintings are held in many private and corporate collections throughout Australia as well as many countries abroad.

John's preferred subjects include landscape, marine and city scenes, floral and still life. His favourite medium is oil, however he also utilises watercolour, acrylics and pastel.

He is in demand for painting demonstrations and workshops by art groups and occasionally conducts painting seminars in all mediums.

John was President of the St George Art Society for 15 years, and was conferred life membership in 1992. He is also a member of the Southern Cross Art Group.

He travels extensively in search of new subjects, and his fishing gear always accompanies his paints and canvas!
