JOSEPH BEZZINA
Joseph Bezzina was born 1950 at Sydney NSW and now lives at Dolans Bay
on Port Hacking shores. He is a painter of many mediums and works mainly
in acrylics, gouache and mixed media.
The waterways of Sydney Harbour have been a constant inspiration for Joseph
since his previous profession involving many years in the shipping industry.
Over the past years he has painted the Australian outback making pictures
developed from the love of looking and observing shapes and marks in nature.
Plein-aire painting gives him a direct vivid response to the motif, where
he takes them back to the studio to develop into larger works bringing
out the many abstract elements in the subject.
Over the past few years Joseph has been quietly building up an impressive
body of work which has been purchased by he likes of The Reserve Bank
of Australia (London Office), The Fairfax Group, Sutherland Shire Council
and many private collectors in Australia, America, Italy, The UK and France.
His works have been shown in regional galleries and in 2003 "Hillside
Cutting Tumut" was selected in the 'Salon des Refuses Exhibition'
at S.H.Erwin Gallery.
Joseph completed The Certificate of Fine Art Course achieved Distinction
and the Highest Achievement Award. He is now a Fellow of the Royal Art
Society of New South Wales where he regularly exhibits and teaches plein-aire
landscape classes.
A winner of many awards, Joseph received a trip to Paris in the Darling
Harbour 'Win Your Way To Paris In 100 Minutes', The North Sydney Open
Prize and First Prize in the Sutherland Leader Award.
Joseph continues to strive for excellence in his chosen career.
